Created antibacterial bedding

If in childhood you were afraid of the famous “under bed” monster, then in adulthood, you probably should be more afraid of “monsters” under the bed, and on it. Every day people “share her bed” with 350 thousands of bacterial colonies and 100 thousands of fungi spores. So frightening results of a recent study gave scientists the creation of a special anti-bacterial fabric, which is now commercially available and may be of interest to all who are worried about their physical and psychological health.

How much bacteria lives in the bed of the man?

In our pillows, beds and towels are always different types of fungi spores, bacteria, particles of skin and residues of household chemicals. They can cause allergic reactions, rashes, coughing and runny nose “unspecified reasons”. The most popular resident in our bed is the dust mite, which gives a preference to our pillows, mattresses and blankets, since they have all necessary conditions for accommodation: air, particles of dead human skin, which they use as food and dust. Despite weekly washing, the amount of bacteria on bed linen is not reduced significantly, because the person brings them again and again on his body.

According to an article published on the portal, the scientists were able to successfully bypass the problem as they have created a special antibacterial bedding.

The secret fabric is to weave with silver, which is able to destroy most of the bacteria. Company Miracle is already using this technology in the creation of bedding and assures that the fabric is capable of destroying up to 99% of pathogenic bacteria.

Since the fabric is composed of silver, which has antibacterial properties, it allows it to stay clean longer and not have the smell. In addition, one of its main features is breathable structure, which provides protection from moisture tissues. The company that produces this product already has put it up for sale at a price of 169$ (10 790 rubles) per set.

It is worth noting that all the linen is cotton fibers, which are interwoven silver ions. Since silver has a positive charge and various kinds of bacteria that live in our beds, negative, bacteria are simply attracted to silver, and their shell is destroyed. Therefore, the fabric remains clean for longer time. As stated by the manufacturer, a fabric with a weave of silver indistinguishable from a conventional cotton fabric by the level of rigidity, and therefore will not cause discomfort during activity.
