On our planet there are a huge number of mysterious structures built by ancient civilizations. For example, the so-called Easter island, you can find more than 800 huge statues called moai. Historians for a long time could not understand their purpose, but recently archaeologists from the USA, New Zealand and Chile managed to unravel their secret, which you can read in our special article. Surrounded by the mysteries of the statues are also in the territory of the southern African country of Peru, at the archaeological complex called Pachacamac. The most famous of them is the idol, which for centuries was worshipped by the ancient Incas, who considered this statue the fortune-teller. Once upon a time the Europeans wanted to destroy the mysterious figure, but closer to the middle of the XX century it was rediscovered. But who knows — maybe the archeologists found a completely different ancient artifact, a statue of Pachacamac was really destroyed?
Finding the answer to this question decided to take Marcela Sepulveda from the University of Paris Sorbonne. If you believe the historical data, the attempt to destroy the mysterious statue of Pachacamac in 1533 far was going to the Spanish conqueror by the name of Hernando Pizarro. He ordered his aides to tear the figure to pieces, but according to scientific journal PLOS ONE, to perform this task people failed. The statue was indeed lost, however, in 1938 it was re-discovered by archaeologists. Maybe the aides did not carry out the command of the conqueror, or maybe it is simply not possible.
The mystery of the statue of Pachacamac
Indeed, the statue proved to be very durable object. Its height reaches as much as 2.3 meters, and it was made using a variety of minerals, including kinavara. This material contains mercury and, according to French scientists, he gave the statue a reddish tint. But it used to be that painting the idol gave the blood that soaked into the numerous sacrifices.
Having carefully studied the historical object, the researchers came to the conclusion that really dealing with the statue of Pachacamac. According to their calculations, it was established in the interval between 760 and 876 years BC. However, it was created far not worshiping her by the Incasand the Huari culture. This civilization lived in Peru for 700 years before the Incas. Perhaps it was from them the Incas and learned about the fantastic capabilities of the statue to predict the future.
After examining the statue and its components, scientists have identified another historical fact. According to them, the ancient Incas must have had trade relations with other Nations, as used to cover the statues of the mineral cinnabar was impossible to get in their habitats. But it can be found in the mountain chain of the Andes, which is located 400 kilometers from Pachacamac.
