Tesla found how to solve the problem of ignition Model S and Model X

At the end of April 2019 , there was another case of ignition of the car Tesla — however, this time the car suddenly caught fire in the Parking lot in Hong Kong, and the driver wasn’t inside. The company took two weeks to investigate the cause of the problem and find a solution. To recall thousands of cars no one is going: Elon Musk has taken a different path.

As reported in the official statement released by Tesla, the company will release a special software update after the ignition of the car in the Parking lot of the shopping center. Engineers recognize that the fault was the failure in the settings of the battery charge and temperature control. Nevertheless, the problem can be solved by software update that will allow to exclude similar cases in future and to extend the life of the battery.

At the same time in the Model S that caught fire, it affected only a few battery modules, and a large part of the battery pack was not damaged. The company noted that the batteries are designed so that if the “rare case” there was a fire, it will slowly spread and take the heat out of the cabin. The point is to give occupants time to exit the vehicle.

Tesla also once again reminded that electric cars are much less of a risk of ignition than cars with gasoline or diesel engines, and the above-mentioned case was “an unpleasant incident”.

This is not the first case when the battery of the Tesla becomes the cause of the fire. A year ago, the driver of the Tesla Model X had an accident in mountain view: due to severe damage to the battery caught fire, and to save the victim failed. Witnesses to the incident reported that he saw a ball of fire at the scene. In September, electric cars Tesla Model 3 has proven safety in a spectacular crash tests but as you know perfection has no limit.
