In the African desert included the song that will “play forever”

One of the main problems of modern gadgets — they have to charge. In some cases this must be done every day (e.g., smartphones), sometimes you can afford to take a break, if we are talking about tablets, wireless speakers and other devices with low energy consumption. The creation of something “eternal” has been postponed largely for this reason, but one artist was able to work around this limitation the old fashioned way.

In the middle of the Namib, the oldest desert in the world, the African artist has created an installation of multiple speakers and player. As planned, the player must constantly produce a track of Toto — “Africa”, which was released in 1982. Dynamics and player eat like from built-in batteries and are placed around the solar panels. For stability they are bolted to the concrete columns, which are slightly dug into the sand.

On the idea of the artist, the song should “play forever: the sun in Africa enough, so the battery device will not sit down. The only thing that can prevent installation — harsh climate of the Namib desert, where there are often sandstorms. Well, or vandals that decide to ruin the song.

The idea of using solar panels to create something “eternal” is not new, but until now nobody has implemented it in a similar way. The song “Africa” has become “viral” a few years ago, becoming one of the favorite tracks around the Internet.
